Lighthouse Christian Homeschool Academy is a non-profit (5013c), non-denominational Christian, homeschool education co-op located in the Tarpon Springs Florida area that seeks to provide homeschool students with quality learning opportunities in a Christ centered environment while fostering their love of learning; promoting their spiritual, moral, and academic growth; and assisting them in recognizing and developing their talents and strengths to their fullest potential for service to our Lord.
LCHA meets on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to approximately 4:30 PM at First United Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs at 501 E. Tarpon Avenue. Designed to enrich the education of the students, the co-op offers a variety of academic and enrichment classes for preschool through high school levels. The LCHA co-op class day begins with announcement and prayer time, which is followed by six 1-hour class periods. Classes are cafeteria style and a student may take classes for one or more periods. Most classes are offered on an annual basis and have two semesters. Lunch time is from 12:30 - 1:30 PM and families may bring a lunch or purchase pizza.
LCHA also seeks to enhance and support the homeschool experience by providing support group meetings; an active co-op member email forum to share area homeschool events and homeschool related news; student council, newspaper, and yearbook; and events such as an annual Science Fair, Art Show, Christmas Show, and other celebrations.
The 2012 - 2013 schedule is now posted. Click on "Public Class Registration" on the left margin on the website to view the schedule. For detailed information about each class, click on the class on the grid. Please note that the grade levels listed are recommendations and if your child is outside these levels, you are welcome to discuss enrolling your child in that class with the teacher.
Online public registration will begin on August 9, 2012. To register for classes, click on the 'Membership Link' link on the left margin.
